The Student Courage Award will be presented to young people from the Capital Region area, that are in middle or high school, grades 6-12, and who have demonstrated personal courage by taking positive action against racism, prejudice and bias-related violence in their community. Candidates should be able to attend the ceremony in April at Siena College to receive their award.Three winners will be selected. All recipients will receive a commemorative certificate, an invitation to diner with the speaker and/or the advisory board of Martin Luther King and Coretta Scott King Lecture Series and formal recognition during the MLK lecture.
In addition the 3rd place winner will receive $200, the 2nd place winner $300 and the first place winner $500.
The awards honor those who actively promote the ideal of a just and inclusive society that values diversity and the uniqueness of each individual.
