Fr. Kevin was introduced to Franciscan themes as a child in his hometown of Paterson, N.J., where the largest group of Franciscan Friars Minor in the country had its program for novices. St. Bonaventure Church, just a few blocks from his home, embedded Franciscan values into the grammar school curriculum and his family nurtured his Franciscan spirit throughout his early life.Fr. Kevin received a bachelor’s degree in history from Siena College in 1975. His Siena memories include several influential people: outstanding professors and lecturers who exposed him to the writings of St. Bonaventure and other Franciscan scholars. In June of 1975, Fr. Kevin was received as a member of the Order of Friars Minor. Four years later, he made his solemn profession of vows and in 1980 was ordained a Roman Catholic priest. He received his Master’s of Divinity degree from Washington Theological Union and a Ph.D. in theology from The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C. where his interest in medical ethics grew and he continued to cultivate his pastoral heart.
