A Committee Chairperson represents each committee at weekly SEB meetings to coordinate events and update the board. If you are interested in joining a committee, simply contact the committee chairperson or come to one of the scheduled committee meetings as shown below. All students are welcome to participate.
Special Events Committee
This committee, chaired by one (1) student, is responsible for planning the “special” student run activities on campus. Such events in previous years have included contests, giveaways, off-campus events (Ben and Jerry’s Factory trip, Whitewater Rafting) and game shows (Family Feud, Professors vs. Students, etc.).
This committee, chaired by two (2) students, is responsible for planning all of the major musical (and sometimes comedic) events on campus. Such recent performances have included performances byThird Eye Blind, Eve 6, Good Charlotte, New Found Glory, Lifehouse, Guster, The Format, Gavin Degraw, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, and Secondhand Serenade.
This committee, chaired by two (2) students, is responsible for planning various forms of entertainment on campus, usually once each week. Coffeehouse events include live bands, bingo, comedians, open mic nights, karaoke contests, and other fun programming. Most events take place in the Maloney Great Room.
This committee, chaired by one (1) student, is responsible for coordinating various trips to fine arts and cultural events off campus, as well bringing similar events to campus. The Fine Arts Committee has provided trips to Broadway shows in New York City in recent years. These shows have included Chicago, The Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall, Rent, The Little Mermaid, and more.
This committee, chaired by one (1) student, is responsible for bringing big name speakers to campus. Speakers from various areas of interest have been brought to Siena over the past years. Such speakers have included former MTV News correspondent Gideon Yago, Omarosa of “The Apprentice,” and authors of books and popular articles.
This committee, chaired by one (1) student, is responsible for the choosing and running of all weekend movie events. There is a movie shown each weekend as well as special movie events happening periodically throughout the semester.
This committee, chaired by two (2) students, is responsible for one week of charity events in the fall, whose proceeds go entirely to a chosen local charity. The week is full of fun and educational events. A highlight of every Charity Week is the service auction which allows students to bid on items in order to help raise funds for the chosen charity. Past auction items have included a signed basketball by the Siena Basketball team and dinner with the President.
This committee, chaired by two (2) students, is responsible for one week of programming per semester. This week falls halfway through the semester (hence the name, “Hump Week”). The purpose is to provide anxiety-relieving programming for the entire Siena Community. Such events have included massage therapy, bands performing during lunch, comedians, and giveaways.
This committee, chaired by two (2) students, is responsible for a weekend of programming falling on the first weekend in December. Traditionally the weekend has started with a semi-formal dance and has been filled with fun events to round out the first semester.
This committee, chaired by two (2) students, is responsible for one weekend of events in the spring semester aimed at the siblings of Siena College Students. Traditionally there has been a carnival, a comedian or hypnotist, and lots of other fun events. The events are generally geared toward spending fun time with the students’ younger sibling.
Siena Fest Weekend
This committee, chaired by two (2) students, is responsible for the infamous Siena Fest Weekend. Siena Fest falls on the last weekend of each April and is the Siena Community’s chance to come together before graduation and the beginning of summer break. The weekend is filled with events. From Friday night till Sunday morning there is something happening. Past SienaFest themes have included “Putting the Loud in Loudonville,” “Wild Wild West,” “Siena Fest Gone Greek,” and “Go Big or Go Home!” Anything can happen during Sienafest…who knows what fun will be planned!
