Testimonies of War

Testimonies of War -- A Veterans Oral History Project

Begun in 2004, "Testimonies of War" is a student-initiated effort to record the memories of U.S. veterans.   According to the two student founders, Kristen L. Scanlon, 2006, and Jessica Durdel, 2006:
Our number one goal is to capture and record veterans' stories in order to provide powerful, primary resources for those who wish to expand their knowledge of American history.  We firmly believe that there is no greater way to do so than by making veterans' stories available to the public.  We hope to encourage meaningful intergenerational collaborations which will foster community awareness of the importance of oral history.
Student volunteers are trained to conduct the interviews which are stored on DVDs in Siena's Standish Library and at the New York State Military Heritage Institute at Saratoga.  To become involved, please contact Dr. Tim Cooper.
