Outing Club

Siena Outing Club

Siena Outing Club is Siena College's leading club in everything and anything outdoors. We ski, hike, raft, rock climb, camp, and much much more! If you are interested in anything "outdoorsy" we are willing to try just about anything.

Hiking: We attempt to do as many hikes as possible during the fall and spring of the school year. We hike everything from the easiest climb for beginners to the most difficult climbs for experts. We have hiked such mountains as:

Buck Mountain (Adirondack Mountains NY)

Greylock Mountain (Massachusetts)

Cascade Mountain (Adirondack Mountains NY)

Shelving Rock (Adirondack Mountains NY)

North Mountain (Catskill's NY)

Camping: We began an annual camping trip in 2010 and we are attempting to continue the tradition. Every year we spend time at Pyramid Lake.

Rock Climbing: New this year we have gone rock climbing! While we have yet to do outdoor rock climbing (unfortunatley) we have began climbing indoors. Just down the street from Siena College we clim at Albany Indoor RockGym (AIR).

Skiing: Skiing has become one of the most popular parts of Outing Club. Every year we go on at least two overnight trips, which are offered at amazing discounts, along with the occasionaly day trip. Some of the mountains we have skiid in recent years include:

Jiminy Peak

Mount Snow

Smugglers' Notch

Okemo Mountain

Jay Peak (*New this year!)

Rafting: Every spring we take a day rafting trip on the Indian River. The trip occurs in mid to late April when the rapids are beginning to become powerful. In years past we have rafted rapids as easy as Class 1 and as difficult as Class 5!

Fundraising: This year will mark the 3rd annual Outing Club Toys For Tots Fundraiser. In past years we have raised over $1000 for this amazing charity. The event includes a giant Christmas party full of contests, raffles, live music, holiday snacks, and best of all FREE pictures with Santa! This year the event will take place on December 4, 2011 from 7:00 - 11:00 pm in Maloney Great Room. So come join us and help us raise money for this important cause!

Future Trips: We have a lot of interest expressed in different activities and we are doing our best to accomodate evryones ideas. Currently we are working on Zip-lining, Horse-Back Riding, Bike Riding, and another overnight camping trip! Basically what we are trying to say is that if you are interested in anything tell us and we will do our best to make it happen!

Outing Club is one of the largest clubs on campus with over 150 members full of great people and an even better time. So join outing club and have an amazing year!
