Bonner Class of 2016

Kate Bender

Kate Bender is a Sophomore marketing major at Siena College. Kate currently serves as the Membership Outreach & Recruit Coordinator at the Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York. With this position at GSNENY Kate works to provide girl scouts to all girls in the capital region. Kate has worked to create a new program for girl scouts that provides the Girl Scout experience to youth as an after school program so that it is more accessible to those who may not other wise be able to participate. She will be working this coming year on the new Siena Girl Scout community which will consist of girl scout troops that are lead by Siena students at local elementary and middle schools in ad-risk communities.

Caylin Dadeo-Winick

Caylin Dadeo-Winick is a Bonner at Siena College. She is a psychology major and will be graduating in 2016. Caylin serves as a workforce development assistant with the Peter Young Foundation and meets with clients at the Schuyler Inn regularly to assist with apartment and job searches. Caylin is also a youth mentor with Siena's mentoring program and is an advocate on Siena's Student Conduct Review Board. She is also a member of Siena's psychology club and in her spare time, she does yoga and trains for triathlons.

 

Brittany Drollette

Brittany is from Chataugay, NY. She serves as a Trailblazer at North Albany Academy as the Public Relations and Siena Student Coordinator. Brittany has volunteered with Reality Check on Smoke Free Movies, Youth Rally in New York City, with New York School of Urban Ministry at various soup kitchens and homeless shelters, and as a Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Ambassador with Relay for Life.

Elizabeth Farah

Elizabeth (Liz) Farah is from North Andover, MA and is a current sophomore at Siena College studying Biology. She is aspiring to become a medical doctor and enjoys learning about healthcare. She started volunteering at a local hospital at age 14 and now as part of the Bonner program is serving at the Capital City Rescue Mission Free Clinic in Albany, NY. At the free clinic she takes intakes which includes taking a patient's height/weight, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and blood sugar. She also fills the patient's medications and calls local specialists to make appointments for the patients. By serving at the clinic Elizabeth is learning another spectrum of the healthcare field and loves her position immensely.

Kelly Finn

Kelly Finn is a Bonner Service Leader from the Class of 2016 at Siena College. She is a Psychology Major who hopes to pursue a career in Childhood Psychology in the future. Her Bonner Service Site is Girl Scouts, where she is a Troop Coordinator. Within Troop 1430, Kelly is responsible for overseeing communication between Girl Scouts, their parents, and Siena student leaders in order to ensure that their weekly meetings and special events run smoothly. Kelly is passionate about ensuring both academic development and personal empowerment for the girls that she serves.

Jessica Guthrie

Jessica Guthrie belongs to the Siena class of 2016. She is a mathematics major and aspiring teacher. She serves as an ACE Trailblazers as a Bonner where she works with at risk youth at North Albany Academy after school two days a week. She works with the students on their academic and leadership skills while helping them strive for higher education. Jess enjoys hanging out with her friends at Siena, reading, and going to the beach.

 

Monique Jenkinson

Monique Jenkinson is from Brasher Falls New York and is a sophomore sociology major at Siena College. She hopes to one day work for a nonprofit organization or possibly start her own. Monique serves the North Albany Girl Scout Troop 1430 as the Meeting Coordinator. She is in charge of facilitating activities for community girls to earn badges that demonstrate the personal development of the Girl Scouts. She plans and implements curriculum for the program, and ensures that it is both educational and inspiring for the girls. Monique also serves as a big sister for Siena’s Mentoring Program as well.

Jessica Murphy

Jessica Murphy is proud to be part of the Class of 2016 at Siena College. Although she has not yet declared her major, she has a wide range of interests within the School of Liberal Arts. Currently, her favorite subjects are philosophy and sociology, however she also enjoys politics, foreign languages, and feminist/women's studies. As a Bonner Service Leader, Jessica serves at Brighter Choice Charter Middle School for Girls where she is the Coordinator of Female Student Empowerment. In this position, she co-facilitates an after school program titled "The Beauty Project," where she and a group of students explore the ways in which society portrays beauty and what it means to be beautiful, both in America and around the world. Jessica also served as a Social Services Intern at Joseph's House, a homeless shelter in Troy.

Shae-Leigh Paparella-Vorhees

Shae-Leigh Paparella-Voorhees is a member of the Siena College Class of 2016 and is majoring in American Studies. Her current Bonner Service Leader role is with Parson's Family and Child Center as the Programming and Activities Assistant. In this role, she is creating a way to help families and children with juvenile justice through a resource guide of the area and intake sheets for when youth are arrested.

 

Elizabeth Kim Ramirez

Kim Ramirez, Siena College Class of 2016, is a Social Work Major. Her other academic interests include Sociology, Women's Studies, and Urban Education. She is a Service Learning Client Suport Intern at the Sheridan Hollow Drop-In Center At the Drop-In Center and works to provide all types of support for the clients. Kim meets with clients to provide them with mailboxes and lockers. She also connects with various community providers throughout Albany that come to the Drop-In Center to meet with the clients to provide all different types of services.

Elainy Rodriguez

Elainy Rodriguez is a current Bonner Service Leader and member of Siena College's class of 2016. She is a Psychology major with a certificate in community development, as well as minors in both Italian and Spanish. As a Bonner, Elainy serves at Parson's Child and Family Center in Albany, NY. There, she helps children in crisis housing by helping them with homework, providing support, and serving as a mentor.

 

Costin Thampikutty

Costin Thampikutty is currently a sophomore English major from the Bronx, NY and a member of the Bonner Service Leaders program. At Green Tech High Charter School, Costin serves as a liaison between the community and the school in order for students to gain their 100 hour service learning requirement for graduation. Also, Costin helps seniors navigate through the college process. For fun, Costin enjoys photography, skateboarding and writing.
