The Diversity Action Committee (DAC) Student Fellowship is awarded to a current
Siena College student pursuing research or a program of study that will increase
her or his knowledge of diversity and effect positive change within the Siena
community. The DAC Student Fellowship supports students examining issues
related to gender, race, ethnicity, class, religion, age, sexual orientation, gender
expression, and/or disability.
What Types of Projects?
The DAC student fellow’s work will result in a workshop, presentation,
conversation, or other interactive format to address issues of diversity in the
curriculum, classroom culture, pedagogy, and practices for faculty and relevant
staff. The purpose of the DAC Student Fellowship is to empower and cultivate
expertise on the part of the student fellow and to foster interactive learning
environments within the Siena community.
The award of $500.00 is to support at least one of the following areas:
Travel to a conference related to diversity (including but not limited to the issues listed above)
Travel to an exhibition, show, or event related to diversity
Hands-on research or program of study related to diversity, done on or off-campus, which can betranslated to this format
The applications are due twice a year: November 22nd and April 1st. Student presentations should follow within six months of the application date. The successful applicant must work with a DAC representative who will serve as a mentor to the student fellow.
