New Directions in Historical Research

The 9th Annual Omicron Xi Symposium

Siena College

Thursday, April 24, 2014

7:00-9:00 P.M.

On April 24, Omicron Xi, the Siena College Chapter of the National History Honor Society Phi Alpha Theta, will host its ninth consecutive student conference.

We encourage students to submit proposals that consider a wide ranging exploration of history. We welcome papers on all historical periods and regions of the world. Students in the proseminar and capstone courses, honors courses, or upper-level history courses are especially encouraged to submit proposals as are current and newly inducted Phi Alpha Theta members.

The deadline for submissions of proposals is Wednesday, April 2.

Proposals should be sent as Microsoft Word attachments to Dr. Wendy Pojmann by email at Your proposal, which should not exceed 250 words, should incorporate your topic, a research question, and a one-paragraph rationale. Please include a brief bibliography as well.

Students whose papers are accepted should be prepared to present on April 24 to an audience of students, professors, and guests. They will be asked to speak for 10-15 minutes about their topic, thesis, research, and sources. A faculty member will act as chair and discussant for each of the concurrent sessions.
