School of Business

In 1938 seven Franciscan friars secured 38 acres of land in Loudonville, N.Y. and Siena College came into existence. We opened with 90 students. There are now more than 3,000 and approximately 1200 of these students are in the School of Business. I am very proud of the quality of our program and the commitment of faculty and staff who serve you and continue our “Franciscan Tradition.”

The School of Business offers undergraduate programs in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management, Marketing, and a graduate program in Accounting. We are accredited by AACSB International (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). This prestigious accreditation means faculty meet very high standards in both teaching and research. Siena maintains small class sizes with an average of 21 and a maximum of 35 students. You will always have direct access to your professors. All of our classrooms are electronically enhanced and you have access to our state-of-the-art Hickey Financial Technology Center containing our Raub Trading Room and Alonge Accounting Lab.

At Siena we also offer opportunities for you to pursue research on the undergraduate level and to present your findings at our annual Student Conference in Business. Many students also publish papers and attend conferences with their supervising professor.  We have a vibrant internship program for those who wish to gain actual business experience as they complete their studies. In several of your classes you will also be given the opportunity to participate in projects that support local non-profit organizations through Siena’s commitment to Academic Community Engagement.

Siena’s Career Center is open to all students with day and evening hours. The Center brings many national and international recruiters to our campus. We also have a strong network of nearly 15,000 alumni and many of our local alumni provide exciting internship opportunities to students and jobs to graduates.

We participate in athletics at the NCAA Division I level and we offer a large number of organized intra-mural opportunities to all throughout the academic year. In addition, more than 60 student organizations are active on campus. We also offer opportunities for reflection and study time on campus in our Sarazen Student Union and Standish Library.

I wish you well during your time with us. I truly enjoy meeting and speaking with students and invite you to stop by my office in SH301 and say hello.

Frederick J. DeCasperis, Ed.D.
Interim Dean and Professor of Management
