“Teaching as a Career”- Discussion led by teacher, author and Siena Alumni Rick Pepe November 12th at 4pm in Rosetti Hall 226

After 37 years, 33,000+ classes, over 950 women's varsity softball and basketball games coached, and not one sick day, Rick Pepe '71 retired from teaching English and coaching at Schalmont High School in Rotterdam, NY. He joined the staff at Hamilton-Fulton-Montgomery BOCES near Johnstown, New York where he will put all of his experience to good use as an instructor in their "Careers in Education" program.

Service Immersion Trip to Haiti January 2014

This is an opportunity to spend 9 life-changing days immersing yourself in the Haitian Culture. You will visit global health organizations, an orphanage, and will teach English lessons to local students at the St. Gabriel's Middle-High School founded by Pierre-Louis Joizil, Siena Alumnus of 2011!      

Brazil Trip- An Academic Exchange: Building Cultural and International Understanding 

Enroll in Educ-310 and travel to Brazil to converse with locals from the University of Paraiba. In class, students will explore several aspects of life in Joao Pessoa (government, economy, education, entertainment) as well as social aspects of life there (issues in poverty, race, contemporary protest movements). In Brazil, the students will converse with faculty, teachers and teachers in training about how to create communities that build an understanding of caring and forgiveness. 

"For Profit"

Witness the exploitation of the American student. "For Profit" is a one-man show about the 1 trillion dollar student debt crisis told through the lens of an unwilling admissions adviser at a for-profit institution.
